It was a remarkable piece of Belgian bluestone, of which this sculpture is made. Good size, but with a large angle out and a bevel. But the way it goes, you submit to the material. The result is a pretty robust shape, with the suggestion of movement.
I opted for a sleek and smooth finish, because then you get a nice shadow-light effect. Depending on the location, you can choose to place the statue on the bluestone base, which gives it a little more height. Bluestone is very well fit for outdoors, although the polished black will eventually lose its shine.
