This sculpture started with a series of marble remains, different in color and structure. Cleaning the material in itself is nice, but that still doesn’t make a sculpture. It quickly became clear to me that it would become a series.
By repeating form elements, you create more unity. And by adding extra visual elements, such as depth and gradient of surfaces, there is more to experience.
Creating always involves many questions. And sometimes doubts. Many steps and choices have formed the basis for this sculpture. How minimal can it be? How big will the series be?
It's about rhythm, repetition, the interspace that is created. And not to forget the play of shadow and light, to which marble lends itself so well.
