Boat shapes recur in my work from time to time. It's always a delightful challenge to carve a beautiful tension across the surfaces. This type of sculpture leaves room for the imagination; what kind of journey does it depict? It's not straightforward; you can give it your own interpretation.
I also enjoy combining shapes and materials. The texture of the chisel stroke and the irregularity of the broken surface clearly reveal the craftsmanship, keeping in mind the beauty of imperfection (wabi-sabi).
